Columbus is a small, safe community located in Columbia and Dodge Counties in South Central Wisconsin. The entire downtown is an historic district on the National Register.
The city offers two golf courses, a wonderful aquatic center, top ranked schools and an outstanding hospital. Columbus is served by Amtrak’s Empire Builder between Chicago and Seattle, with a train stopping at the station in each direction every day. The Christopher Columbus Museum is a history museum located in an old canning factory, now the Antique Mall & Museum, which is the largest antique mall in the state of Wisconsin. It displays quality souvenir memorabilia from Chicago’s 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition (World’s Fair).
Be sure to check out Astico Park, located along the Crawfish River. The park offers campsites, picnic areas and shelters, hiking trails and canoeing and fishing opportunities. To the north of Columbus is the Columbus Wetland State Public Hunting Ground. The Craw Fish River runs through the hunting ground and provides excellent hunting opportunities.
